The $25,000 Question

The RAS Foundation values local knowledge. We recognise that no one understands a community better than those who live in it, and we want to support the best and brightest ideas for enhancing rural and regional communities.

The $25,000 Question offers young people in rural and regional NSW the opportunity to get a good idea funded, for the benefit of their local community. If you are a current or previous entrant in The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition or RAS Rural Achiever awards, and will be 30 years or under on 1st May, 2009, you are also eligible to participate in the RASF’s $25,000 Question.

Who wouldn’t want the chance to receive up to $25,000 to be put towards a community project in their local area?

Participating is simple. All you have to do is:

  1. Be a current or previous entrant in the Showgirl or Rural Achiever awards.
  2. Be aged 30 years or under on 1st May, 2009.
  3. Identify a need in your local community which could be addressed with funding of up to $25,000, and
  4. Partner with a community organisation to create a plan for implementing a project to address this need.

It might be playground equipment for the local kindergarten, a tree-planting day to combat salinity, a mental health workshop for drought-affected farmers… You name it, we’ll consider it. Click here for more details and examples of project ideas.

To have your proposal considered, simply fill in an application online or download an application form to send by post or fax. Applications for the 2009 award close in January 2009.
