Donor-Advised Scholarships
How they work
The RASF’s Donor Advised Scholarships Program is a convenient way for major donors ($50,000 and above) to establish an educational scholarship in any area of interest to them, managed by the RASF.
Contributions are accounted for separately and form part of a corpus. In most cases, the scholarship will bear the name of the donor and will be established in perpetuity.
The following terms apply to the establishment of a Donor-Advised Scholarship:
- The donor must contribute a minimum of $50,000 to the RASF in a single financial year;
- Scholarships will be offered from the income derived from a donor’s contribution(s), and will be paid out annually in the area of education specified by the donor;
- Scholarships may be established in any area of education that is relevant to rural and regional Australia, in accordance with RAS of NSW Objects;
- Scholarships must be taken at approved Australian education providers; and
- An annual management fee of 1% of net assets will be incurred by all Donor-Advised Scholarships, to cover investment and program management.
When establishing a Donor-Advised Scholarship at the RASF, donors may identify an area of particular educational interest to them, suggest possible funding recipients and work with RASF staff to meet their objectives as effectively as possible. However, it should be noted that the Board of the RASF retains ultimate discretion in determining the allocation of funding from all Donor-Advised Scholarships.
